Alternative Dual Credit by Courses

Students also earn alternative college credit by taking self-paced, online courses. Some of the most known alternative credit course providers are Saylor Academy, Study.com, Streighterline, Sophia Learning, and others. Universities may also honor courses completed on EDx and Coursera. These courses provide all the study material and grades from assignments, quizzes, and tests. The cost per course varies from $30 - $200.

Alternative credit self-paced Courses are not as well known as the Dual Credit Exams, so check with prospective colleges to see if they accept these courses. The colleges’ registrars determine which alternative credits they will take and what requirements these credits will fulfill.
